Habit trackers exist. Plenty of them. So why make one more? Because my team needed my support and I was too focused on the operational tasks and forgot my mission as a leader: to build a strong cohesive team. So I made a habits tracker and made sure I follow the 5 tasks listed every single day. Happy to share it with fellow managers who may need a little nudge every day to be their best selves for their teams.
Key Features:
- Morning check-in: whether online or via a live standup, just show that you are available, send a quick encouraging message, a song that's in your head - just show you are there for the team.
- Prioritise your tasks: I bet you have a lot on your plate. Write everything down and prioritise each task with P1/P2/P3. Don't do the P3.
- Go through the numbers: Look at the main analytics of the team to make sure nothing is amiss and the team is performing as expected
- Recognise: Use team communication channels to publicly acknowledge at least one team member's accomplishment daily
- Give feedback: If something is actually amiss, give constructive feedback in private to the person immediately to course correct and help them improve
You can also adapt the tracker to your specific needs by easily adding/removing habits within the tracker. A 30-seconds video shows you how to do it.
How I built this toolkit:
I manage a team of 7 talents. It's easy to get stuck in the daily operational tasks and forget my purpose as a manager to build a cohesive strong team. It was time to build reminders and the Habit Tracker for Managers was born. It's simple and effective!
